Box Score DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Greg Burnham's (Gaithersburg, Md.) goal in the 32nd minute held up as the game-winner and lifted Coast Guard to a 1-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening at Cressy Field.
Burnham converted a pass from fellow senior Patrick Palermo-Re (Manassas, Va.) six yards in front of the net and tucked his team-leading fifth tally in the back right corner for the visiting Bears (6-8-3), and junior Dakota Harich (New Market, Md.) made that stand up in goal with a three-save effort to notch the shutout for Coast Guard.
Freshman Jacob Castro (Swansea, Mass.) made a pair of stops in net in the setback for the host Corsairs (1-12-3), as the Bears outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 14-9 margin overall. Each team had three shots on goal for the evening, as Coast Guard held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Newbury in its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field beginning at 1:00 pm, while Coast Guard travels to Babson Park, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to square off with Babson in a New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference clash that begins at 2:00 pm.
