Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Freshman Jacob Castro (Swansea, Mass.) made six saves to record his first career shutout as UMass Dartmouth and Plymouth State battled to a scoreless double overtime draw in the Little East Conference men's soccer opener for both schools Saturday afternoon at Arold Field.
The visiting Corsairs (0-4-1, 0-0-1 LEC) took seven of their 12 shots in the second half of action after the host Panthers (2-2-2, 0-0-1 LEC) had recorded that same amount in the opening 45 minutes of play, as each team had a shot on net in the two extra sessions combined.
Sophomore Linus Lindeberg (Stockholm, Sweden) also registered six saves in the draw for the Panthers, who held a slim 14-12 edge in overall shots and a 12-5 advantage in corner kicks of rthe contest.
UMass Dartmouth heads to Salem, Mass. on Wednesday evening to square off with Salem State in a non-league outing beginning at 7:00 pm, while Plymouth State will be idle until next Saturday, September 22nd when the Panthers travel to Gorham, Maine for a Little East clash with Southern Maine that begins at 1:00 pm.
