Golf Receives 2019 GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award

The UMass Dartmouth golf team has been named as the recipient of the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Institutional Sportsmanship Award, and Corsair sophomore Garrett Lane was named as one of seven student-athletes selected to the league's All-Sportsmanship Team.

Head Coach Joel Baptista's squad, which finished tied for third at last weekend's GNAC Championships that took place at the Biddeford-Saco (Maine) Country Club, collected its second GNAC Sportsmanship accolade in four years, as UMass Dartmouth also received the honor in 2015.

Lane, a native of Tewksbury, Mass. and a graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School, finished 32nd individually at the GNAC Championships with a two-day score of 86-87-173, and his best performance of the fall came at the Southern Maine Invitational when he fired a two-day total of 161 to finish in a tied for 21st place.

Baptista's Corsairs are closing out their fall schedule this weekend at the 85th Annual NEIGA Championships at The Captains Course in Brewster, Mass.
