Radin's Late Heroics Lift Ice Hockey To 2-2 Draw With Assumption

Box Score

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. --  Junior Dillon Radin's (Long Beach, N.Y.) goal with 26 seconds remaining in regulation enabled UMass Dartmouth to forge a 2-2 non-league overtime tie with Assumption in a college ice hockey contest played Tuesday afternoon at Hetland Arena.

The host Corsairs (2-8-2) trailed by a 2-0 margin late in the second period after a pair of tallies off the stick of sophomore Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass.) staked the visiting Greyhounds (4-7-2) to that cushion, but junior Kai Kapossy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) sliced UMass Dartmouth's deficit in half with just 27 seconds remaining in the stanza.  That score held up until the hosts send on an extra attacker in the closing minutes, and Radin capitalized with the equalizer that was set up on feeds from junior Eric Bolden (Oswego, Ill.) and freshman Austin Miller (Meridian, Idaho).  Assumption registered the lone shot on goal in the extra session, as the Greyhounds outshot the Corsairs by a 35-22 margin overall in a game that saw UMass Dartmouth hold a 42-36 edge at the faceoff dot.

Sophomore Jimmy Pelton (Syracuse, N.Y.) added an assist on Kapossy's goal in the draw for UMass Dartmouth, which received 33 saves in net from freshman Daniel Davidson (Surrey, B.C.).  Sophomore William Smith (Hyde Park, Mass.) collected a pair of helpers on the day for Assumption, which received an assist off the stick of sophomore Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass.) along with 20 stops between the pipes from sophomore Drew Benedict (Cooper City, Fla.).

UMass Dartmouth travels to Hooksett, N.H. on Thursday evening to take on Southern New Hampshire in the third place game of the PAL Stovepipe Cup Tournament that was postponed in early December at 7:00 pm, while Assumption travels to Colchester, Vt. on Friday evening to square off with Saint Michael's in a Northeast-10 Conference clash that also faces off at 7:00 pm.
