Men's Basketball Gameday #5: Keene State

A battle for the top spot in the Little East Conference standings beckons on Saturday afternoon for the Corsair men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon, as UMass Dartmouth (4-0, 4-0 LEC) tangles with Keene State (3-0, 3-0 LEC) in a matchup of league unbeatens at the Tripp Athletic Center that tips-off a home-and-home weekend set between the two squads at 12:30 pm EST.
 
Head Coach Brian Baptiste's squad received a career-high 28 points, nine rebounds and three assists from reigning Little East Player of the Week Marcus Azor (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) on Wednesday evening, as the junior guard helped lead UMass Dartmouth to its second victory over Rhode Island College in a span of four days with a 77-70 conference triumph at The Murray Center in Providence, R.I.  Senior captain Jake Ashworth (Fairhaven, Mass./Bourne) added 14 points and eight boards for the visitors, who received 10 points, six caroms and four assists from junior Adam Seablom (Lakeville, Mass./Apponequet).  Sophomore Jackson Zancan (Cumberland, R.I./Cumberland) collected seven points and six rebounds for the winners, who received six points and six boards from junior Sean Leahy (Hanson, Mass./Whitman-Hanson).
 
Keene State enters Saturday's tilt with an unblemished record as well, as Head Coach Ryan Cain's Owls dispatched Eastern Connecticut by an 85-75 margin on Wednesday evening in a Little East clash played at Spaulding Gymnasium in Keene, N.H.  Keene State also owns conference victories over Rhode Island College (102-82) and Plymouth State (74-73) on the year.
 
UMass Dartmouth swept both meetings from Keene State during the 2019-20 campaign, as the Corsairs collected an 80-77 road win last January 15^th before posting a 77-66 triumph at the Tripp Athletic Center last February 12^th.
 
The two teams will meet again for a Valentine's Day matinee on the back end of the home-and-home set at Spaulding Gymnasium in Keene, N.H. that tips-off at 1:00 pm EST.
