WILLIMANTIC, Conn.— The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth suffered its first setback of the season this afternoon, when Eastern Connecticut State University won the battle of Little East Conference unbeatens 3-0. The Warriors captured the match by scores of 25-9, 25-22, and 25-17 at the Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.

Devon Laing (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) registered six kills, nine digs, and a service ace to pace the Corsairs' (2-1) attack. First-year
Gabby Monico (Milford, N.H.) produced five winners and nine digs, while classmate
Marley Alexander (Ashburn, Va.) also contributed five kills. Sophomore
Courtney Carreiro (Dartmouth, Mass.) handed out 16 assists, and classmate
Vanessa Barreto (Natick, Mass.) matched the team-high in digs with nine.
Junior Anna Barry (Andover, Conn.) powered Eastern Connecticut's offense with a game-high 11 kills on just 15 swings, while senior Abby Stern (Manchester, Conn.) registered nine winners. Senior Alaetra Long (Lincoln, Neb.) chipped in with eight kills and a team-high seven digs. Barry was also a factor at the net, recording a block and five block assists.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 6pm on Thursday, April 22, when the Corsairs host Keene State College in a Little East Conference match.
