Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Owls Fly Past Corsairs, 19-5

DARTMOUTH, Mass.— University of Massachusetts Dartmouth junior Bella Mancini (Bellingham, Mass.) registered a season-high four points, but Keene State College junior Brigid Casey (Mount Vernon, N.H.) and sophomore Haile Ratakack (Brewster, N.Y.) combined for 11 markers to power the Owls to a 19-5 victory in a Little East Conference women's lacrosse match on Cressy Field.  Keene State earned its first victory of the season to improve to 1-2 and 0-1 in the conference circuit, while UMass Dartmouth fell to 0-3 and 0-2.

Mancini paced the Corsairs attack with four points, on three goals and an assist, and a team-high five draw controls, while senior Emma DeLacy (New Bedford, Mass.) and junior Hannah Niemi (Fairhaven, Mass.) each recorded a marker.  First-year Widline Thomas (Stamford, Conn.) collected five ground balls and caused three turnovers.

Casey led the visiting Owls with five goals and two assists for a team-high seven points, while Ratajack produced a team-best six markers.  Senior Ali Daisy (Raynham, Mass.) contributed two goals and three assists, while senior Megan Gorham (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore Mindy St. Marie (St. Albans, Vt.) each scored two markers.

UMass Dartmouth cracked the scoring column less than three minutes into regulation, when DeLacy registered her first goal of the season.  Keene State College seized control of the contest with four unanswered goals, including a hat trick by Ratajack.  The Corsairs cut the lead in half on Mancini's first marker of the contest, but the visitors used another four-goal run to extend their advantage to 8-2.  The Owls took a 10-3 lead into the halftime intermission.  Keene State never let its advantage dip below seven goals over the final 30 minutes of action.

UMass Dartmouth freshman Tahlia Amaral (Acushnet, Mass.) played the opening 30 minutes in net for the hosts and made six saves.  Classmate Claire Petersen (Hubbardston, Mass.) saw her first action of the season in goal and stopped four of the 13 attempts she faced.  Keene State junior Haley Terva (Granby, Conn.) earned her first win of the season with a six-save effort.

UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 12pm on Saturday, April 10, when the Corsairs travel to Plymouth State for a Little East Conference match.
