Game one was a defensive standoff for both sides as the Corsairs and Spartans combined for just six hits. The Corsairs four hits came off the bats of Richards, classmate

Hailey Lyons (Hayden, Idaho).
UMassD found the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning. Castleton walked the first two batters of the inning, putting freshman
Dyonna Rodas (Warwick, R.I.) in scoring position when Richards ripped a double to center field. The 1-0 score line would hold until the last out was recorded.
Richards is 4-0 in her last four starts, striking out six in today's complete-game outing. Freshman Katie Gallagher was tasked with the loss for the visiting side.

Game 2 | Castleton 4, UMassD 1
The defensive battle continued well into the sixth inning of game two. Freshman
Kaitlyn Shirshac (Enfield, Conn.) struck out the side in the top of the first for the Corsairs. Lyons recorded the first hit of the game on a single to center field in the bottom of the second.
The Spartans crossed the plate for the first time of the day in the sixth inning. They tallied four runs on extra-base hits from juniors Makenna Thorne (Essex Junction, V.T.) and Machaila Arjavich (Meriden, Conn.). An RBI single from freshman Allison Almond (Proctor, V.T.) secured a 4-0 lead for the visitors.
Sophomore
Victoria Rossetti had the lone UMassD RBI of the game, driving in Richards on a single to center field. Shirshac struck out seven in her five-inning appearance. Junior
Anna Kerwood pitched one and two thirds innings of relief, allowing just one hit in seven batters faced. Sophomore Olivia Joy (Greenfield, Mass.) earned the win for Castleton.
The Corsairs return to action Thursday, May 6th as they travel to Plymouth State for a Little East Conference doubleheader, playing at 2:00 and 4:00. Fans can tune in at littleeast.tv.
