DJ Perron have both signed with the Wareham Gateman for the remainder of the season.

Logan Maitland as the second and third Corsairs to make their way to Cape Cod this summer. UMass Dartmouth now boasts six members of the program who have signed full-time contracts in the Cape and 10 overall under Head Coach
Bob Prince.
"Both Mike and DJ have worked very hard to put themselves in a position to compete at the highest level," said Prince. "Their opportunity with the Wareham Gatemen is well deserved and a very exciting opportunity."
During the 2021 season, Knell batted .277 and showed off his power. He led the team with six home runs, 22 RBI and a .574 slugging percentage. He was second on the team with eight doubles and 12 walks drawn to go along with 16 runs scored and a triple. His most memorable performance of 2021 came on April 9 at Castleton where he smashed three home runs and collected five RBI in a 13-6 UMass Dartmouth win.

For his career, Knell is hitting .289 with 31 home runs and 116 RBI. The slugger has 157 career hits, 128 runs, 26 doubles, six triples and a .529 slugging percentage.

Perron is coming off a stellar sophomore season where he led the Corsairs with a .327 batting average and 34 hits in 104 at-bats. Perron also led the way with 11 doubles, 13 walks and was tied for the team lead with two triples. He totaled 19 RBI, three home runs and 22 runs scored. Perron was a perfect 5-for-5 with a double on April 21 against Keene State and had a trio of three-hit performances in 2021.

Over his first two seasons at UMass Dartmouth, Perron has a career batting average of .307 with 29 RBI, 11 doubles, four home runs, two triples and 31 runs scored.
The Wareham Gateman (11-15-5) are in a tight playoff race as the Cape Cod League hits the final week of the regular season. The team hosts the Brewster Whitecaps on Wednesday at 6:45pm.
