BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -Â The four-match winning streak for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team came to a halt Friday afternoon at Bridgewater State, 7-2.
The Corsairs (9-3, 4-1 LEC) drop their first Little East Conference match of the season, while the Bears (5-4, 3-2 LEC) creep to fourth place in the standings.
The first doubles team of juniors
IsaBella Winter and
Ailey Riddick lost for the first time (8-7). The pair had two match points and were up 5-2 in the tiebreaker before falling.
"It was a well-played doubles match." said Head Coah
Doug Chapman. "We did well to put ourself in a good position. They had to hit some great shots to come-from-behind, and credit to them, they did."
The Corsairs faired better in the singles, but we're only able to win twice. Winter was a quick 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 1 singles, while seniorÂ
Alanna O'Connell moved up to No. 3 singles and won 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Both are 11-1 in singles on the season.
UMass Dartmouth continues its season on Saturday against UMass Boston at home at 1 p.m.
