DARTMOUTH, Mass. -Â The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis came up short, 8-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) match at home against UMass Boston on Saturday.
The Corsairs fall to 9-4 and 4-2 in the LEC, while the Beacons improve to 7-1 and 6-0 in the conference.
Junior
IsaBella Winter won her No. 1 singles match by breaking a 4-4 tie in the first set and went on to roll to eight straight games, defeating Yana Semerly 6-4, 6-0 for the Corsairs' lone victory. Winter is unbeaten in the LEC and  improved to 12-1 overall in singles.
"IsaBella got into the zone and did not get out until the match was over," said Head Coach
Doug Chapman. "We needed to be at full strength in order to really compete with a very talented UMass Boston team. I thought we competed well, considering five singles players were playing up."
The Corsairs return to the court on Tuesday at Rhode Island College at 3:30 p.m.
