Corsairs Suffer Road Loss at Roger Williams

Three players scored in double figures

BRISTOL, R.I. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's basketball team suffered an 81-56 loss at Roger Williams Tuesday night on the road.

Three players scored in double figures for the Corsairs (3-3), while four put up 10-or-more-points for the Hawks (2-2). Junior Teja Andrews and freshman Melanie DeMeo each scored 13 points off the bench to lead the team, while junior Kaylin Zalewski tallied 10 points and four steals.

Roger Williams raced ahead to a 17-2 lead and finished the first quarter ahead, 24-6.

DeMeo and Zalewski started the second with a pair of baskets, a 3-pointer by graduate student Jessica Carroll and a layup from classmate Jordan Moretti made it a 31-17 game with 4:47 until halftime. The Hawks would maintain a double-digit lead for the remainder of the half.

The entire second half was much of the same as Roger Williams stayed in front, increasing its lead to as many as 31 points, as the Hawks ran away with the win.

UMass Dartmouth stays on the road at Bridgewater State on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
