DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Five players scored in double figures as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's basketball team dominated Plymouth State, 99-36, Sunday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center.
The five in double figures for the Corsairs (16-6, 10-3 LEC) were senior
Jordan Moretti (18 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds), sophomore
Faye Veilleux (13 points, 7 rebounds), sophomore
Isabella Graziano (12 points), senior
Jessica Carroll (11 points) and senior
Shaelyn Carreiro (10 points). Sophomore
Kaylin Zalewski added seven points, five assists and five boards as well.
UMass Dartmouth forced the Panthers (1-18, 0-14 LEC) to 40 turnovers, 25-percent shooting (12-48), and 1-of-10 from long range. Sophomore Lauren Keller led the team with 15 points and seven rebounds.
It was all Corsairs from the jump. UMass Dartmouth raced out to a 26-1 advantage after the first eight minutes. It was a balanced scoring attack as Moretti tallied seven points in the quarter. 5th-year senior
Meagan Donovan, Carroll and Zalewski all hit 3-pointers, as it was a 26-3 lead after one.
UMass Dartmouth won the second, 22-9, to extend the lead to 48-12 at the half. Carreiro netted the first eight points of the quarter with a pair of triples to spark the offense.
The third was the Corsairs best offensive stanza as the home team rattled off 29 points. Moretti picked up 11 points in the quarter, while Carroll and Zalewski each knocked down threes. Graziano got in on the action as well with a layup as UMass Dartmouth extended its lead to 77-24 heading to the fourth.
Graziano piled up 10 points in the fourth with two 3-pointers. Freshman Nicollette D'Itria and sophomore
Jaelyn Lavigne each had six points in the quarter as well as the Corsairs ran away with it.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Rhode Island College on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
