BOSTON, Mass. -Â The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth lacrosse team dropped its opening night matchup at Simmons College, 19-7, Tuesday night at Daly Field.

Melanny Sanchez Alvarez combined for all seven goals for the Corsairs (0-1). Sanchez Alvarez finished with four, while Mancini tallied three. Each goal was unassisted
For the Sharks (1-0), graduate student transfer from UMass Amherst Abby Stoller led the team with six goals, while junior Sammi Hogan and sophomore Julia Chausse each notched a hat trick. Two other members of the team scored twice and three others had one goal.
Simmons sent home the first nine goals of the game in the first quarter, Stoller had four of them. Sanchez Alverez picked up the first score of the season for the Corsairs with 36 seconds to go in the quarter.
Play became increasingly competitive as the game moved to the second. Mancini opened the quarter with a goal, the Sharks scored the next two, Sanchez Alvarez then made it 11-3, and Simmons fired in the next two to make it 13-3 at halftime.
The third was the lowest-scoring quarter as each team picked up two goals. Mancini got the first for the Corsairs and Sanchez Alvarez tallied the second, making it a 15-5 game heading to the fourth.
Mancini and Sanchez Alvarez each scored once in the fourth, but the Sharks found the back of the net four times, with their final goal coming in the final second to finish off the night.
UMass Dartmouth plays next at Curry College on Saturday at 11 a.m.
