BABSON PARK, Mass. -Â Offense was hard to come by as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth softball team was swept by Babson, 2-0 and 8-0, Thursday afternoon on the road.
The Corsairs (12-4-1) were limited to two hits in game one, and Beavers' (12-4) pitcher Logan MacDonald threw a no-hitter in the second contest.
GAME ONE
5th-year senior
Jill Richards was solid in the circle, she went six innings and allowed two earned on six hits and struck out four batters with no walks. On the other side, Babson's Moira O'Reilly tossed a complete-game shutout with 15 K's and gave up just two hits.
The two hits for the Corsairs were a double by senior
Lindsay Chubbuck in the second inning, and a bunt single off the bat of 5th-year senior
Leah Major in the sixth.
Babson's two runs came in the third and fourth innings. The first run in the third came on an RBI single after a one-out triple, and the insurance run in the fourth was on a double.
GAME TWO
The Corsairs were no-hit and the game ended, 8-0, in five innings.
MacDonald struck out three and walked two, she forced seven flyouts and five groundouts to earn the 14th no-hitter in program history.
Home runs in the first and second innings quickly made it a 4-0 Babson lead. Three more runs scored in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly, and an RBI base hit. The final run of the day in the fifth was on a throwing error to finish things off.
