DARTMOUTH, Mass. -Â The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth lacrosse team trailed by one at the break, but Emerson took over for a 12-1 second half, to come away with a 19-7 victory Monday afternoon at Cressy Field.
Sophomore Mallany Sanchez Alvarez led the Corsairs (1-2) with four goals, while sophomore
Claire Petersen finished with two scores, and junior
Kim Hockhousen tallied one goal.
The duo of freshman Callie Krosin and sophomore Lauren Longstreet combined for 13 of the Lions (3-0) 19 goals.
It was highly competitive in the first two quarters. Sanchez Alvarez and sophomore
Natalia Agrelo each pocketed a free position goal in the first, while Longstreet picked up both tallies for Emerson to make it a 2-2 game after one.
The Lions jumped ahead to a 7-4 advantage in the second, but goals by Sanchez Alvarez and Petersen cut it to a 7-6 deficit at the break.
Emerson switched it to another gear in the second half, scoring seven of the eight total goals in the third quarter, to race ahead to a 17-7 advantage. The Lions took the fourth, 5-0, to extend its lead to 19-7 to cap things off.
UMass Dartmouth is off until the 16th when they face Salve Regina on the road at 5:30 p.m.
