LEC Tournament Run Halted by Eastern Connecticut in Championship

It was the first championship appearance in program history

MANSFIELD, Conn. - The historic Little East Conference (LEC) Tournament run for the No. 3 seeded University of Massachusetts Dartmouth softball team has come to an end at the hands of top seeded and nationally-ranked No. 4 Eastern Connecticut, 11-0, in five innings Saturday afternoon.

The Corsairs (33-10-1), who are ranked fourth in NCAA Region II, hope to hear their name called in the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Monday. The Warriors (37-4) punch their ticket as the automatic bid from the LEC to NCAA's.

Eastern scored three runs in the first, two in the second, four in the third, and two more in the fourth. 5th-year senior Leah Major was the only Corsair to reach base with a base hit in the first, and a walk in the fourth.

UMass Dartmouth has its most wins in program history with 33 and made it to the LEC Championship for the first time ever.

The NCAA Selection show is Monday at 1 p.m.
