DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior
Devon Laing shined in the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's sweeps over Husson, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-12) and Framingham State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-19), Saturday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center.
Laing totaled 21 kills, 14 digs and nine aces in the two matches. The Corsairs improve to 3-1 on the year, while the Eagles wrapped up the day with a 1-4 record and the Rams move to 5-2 on the year.

Points went back-and-forth in the first set as Husson led 7-6 after an ace. That was the last time the road team would lead as a kill by junior
Marley Alexander evened the score at seven to start a 13-3 run. A trio of aces from Alexander and kills by Laing and sophomore
Kate Wade extended the set one lead to 19-10. Kills by freshman
Raelynn Perregaux, sophomore Monika Kristjandotirr and Laing finished the first set, 25-17.
Laing and junior
Maggie Sullivan started the second set with kills, and back-to-back aces from Laing gave the Corsairs a 4-1 advantage. Two aces by Pogorelec, kills by Sanker, Wade and Bordone boosted the UMass Dartmouth lead to 18-7. After a small run by Husson, the Corsairs used kills from Wade, Kristjansdottir and Laing to take the second set, 25-17.
UMass Dartmouth ran ahead to a 15-3 advantage top start the third set with a flurry of aces by Laing. A kill by Perregaux and an ace from Alexander kept it going, and kills by Sullivan, Sanker and Bordone closed the match for the UMass Dartmouth win.
VS. FRAMINGHAM STATE
Laing led the way again with 14 kills to go with eight digs an ace. Wade recorded 10 digs and six digs, while Alexander registered seven kills and three aces. Pogorelec finished with 15 digs and Bordone finished with seven digs and 19 assists. Rousseau tacked on 12 assists for the Corsairs.
A kill by Wade and four consecutive aces by Pogorelec boosted the Corsairs to an early 8-2 lead in the first set. Kills by Kirstjansdottir, Alexander and Laing kept things going to make it a 15-6 advantage. Laing, Alexander, Sanker and Wade finished the first set with kills as the Corsairs took it, 25-14.
The second set was close throughout. Framingham State kept up with the Corsairs and had things even at 12. Kills by Alexander and Laing, followed by a pair of aces from Alexander gave UMass Dartmouth a 16-12 lead. The Rams closed the gap to 19-17, but kills by Wade, Sanker Sullivan and Laing made it a 2-0 match lead for the Corsairs.
UMass Dartmouth was in complete control in the third set. Two kills each from Laing and Sullivan, and one kill each from Alexander and Wade made it a quick 9-3 advantage for the home team. The Corsairs continued to stay the pace and back-to-back kills by Laing ended the match and gave UMass Dartmouth the sweep on the day.
The Corsairs are on the road next against Wentworth on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
