HARTFORD, Conn. - With the match tied at four, senior
Alanna O'Connell took the deciding match to give the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth a 5-4 victory over Saint Joseph Wednesday afternoon on the road.
The Corsairs improve to 9-2 on the season, while the Blue Jays drop to 2-5. With the win at third singles (6-2, 6-4), O'Connell improves her record to 10-1 in singles on the season.
The junior duo of
IsaBella Winter and
Ailey Riddick remained undefeated at first doubles (8-2), while senior
McKenzie Ferrari and junior
Caroline Lemieux also won their doubles match (8-2).
Along with O'Connell, winners in singles were Winter (6-0, 6-2) and freshman
Bailey Clarke (6-0, 6-0). Freshman
Tracy Le played her first career college match at sixth singles.
"We never trailed in the match," Said Head Coach
Doug Chapman. "But Saint Joseph pushed us to the very end."
UMass Dartmouth resumes Little East Conference at Bridgewater State on Saturday at 12 p.m.
