DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's basketball team dropped a 98-80 decision to Western Connecticut State University this afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center. The Wolves are currently just outside of the national rankings and are in second place in the Little East Conference (LEC).
Fifth year
Dhalyn Sanders-Dyer led the Corsairs (5-14, 4-6 LEC)  in scoring with 20 points, while seniors
John Martins Jr. and
Jackson Zancan chipped in with 13 and 10, respectively. Zancan also snagged 10 rebounds to earn his second double-double in the past three games.

For WestConn (17-1, 9-1), senior Ryan Alkins poured in a season-high 21 points, while classmate Kendall Robinson matched his season-high of 30 points. Jaheim Young also reached double digits in scoring with 12 points and handed out a team-high five assists.
The Wolves tallied the first basket of the contest and would not look back. They opened the contest with a 15-3 run. Alkins completed the flurry when he sank a pair from the charity stripe.
Robinson collected 19 of his 30 in the first half as he knocked down 6-of-7 shots from three-point territory. Sophomore Keeshawn Jones netted a buzzer beating layup to round out the opening stanza barrage, giving the visitors a 58-37 advantage at the break.
WestConn continued to pour it on thru the second half. The Corsairs struggled to get anything going the rest of the way en route to a 98-80 loss.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 1, when the Corsairs host UMass Boston.
