DARTMOUTH, Mass. - It was a top to bottom effort for the UMass Dartmouth women's tennis team, as they defeated Suffolk University, 9-0 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. The victory moves the Corsairs to 7-6 overall, while the Rams drop to 2-9 on the season.
Doubles action got underway with a victory at three as Corsairs duo
Bailey Clarke and
Saige Croce recorded an 8-0 win over Alex Kickham and Glory Tran. The first doubles pair of rookie
Maddie Gonzalez and senior captain
Ailey Riddick were next off court, defeating Caren Urbano and Rachel Hill by an 8-1 score.

Zuri Walters powered past Nia Bebb and Anastasiya Zakharava, 8-5.Â
In singles play, UMassD made it a 4-0 lead as Lemieux won 6-1, 6-0 from five over Kickham. The home team clinched the match victory at six as rookie
Cristina Avila notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Tran.
Walters earned the "W" at two, defeating Hill, 6-1, 6-2, while at four, Clarke gutted out a 1-6, 6-3, 11-9 victory. Three saw another tough battle as Riddick posted a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8Â come-from-behind win against Bebb.
Action concluded with an outstanding match at one as Gonzalez and Urbano faced off with the latter earning the 6-3 opening win. Gonzalez battled back with a 7-5 victory, going on to battle once again with a 10-6 win for the flight victory.
The Corsairs - who have secured their spot in the upcoming Little East Tournament, conclude the regular season on Saturday. UMass Dartmouth welcomes Southern Maine at 11am, which will not only see the squad honor their Senior Class, but is also the Corsairs Game of the Week.
