DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team opened its 2023-24 home slate on Friday evening, welcoming Elms College to the Tripp Center Natatorium. The visiting Blazers posted a 145-62 victory over the Corsairs.
The night kicked off with the 200-medley relay as the Corsairs saw junior
Anya Wallace, sophomores
Kylie Winer and Ella Gerardi, along with senior
Savannah Platt take second with a time of 2:13.01. Next up was the 200-yard freestyle as Wallace touched second in 2:24.26. In the 50-yard backstroke, Winer was the victor, outpacing the field with a time of 35.50.
The 50-yard breaststroke saw Gerardi take third overall with a mark of 40.29, while in the 100-yard butterfly, Platt was second in 1:41.02. In the 50-yard free, Gerardi returned to take second overall, touching the wall in 30.01, while the 100-yard free saw Platt with a time of 1:16.44 - earning fourth overall.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Wallace posted second overall in 1:15.85, while in the 100-yard breaststroke, Winer added another victory with a mark of 1:19.42. Platt finished third overall in 1:40.79. In the 500-yard free, Wallace recorded second with a time of 6:25.73, while the 50-yard butterfly was a second-place finish for Gerardi in 31.13.
The 100-yard individual medley saw Winer just edged by Elms' DeAngela Fobbs (1:10.69), touching the wall for second in 1:11.19, while the Corsairs concluded the meet with Gerardi, Platt, Wallace and Winer earning second in the 200-yard free relay in 1:58.98.
UMass Dartmouth is back in the pool on November 17, traveling up the road for a meet at Bridgewater State. Action begins at 5pm.Â
