Men's Basketball Slips at Brandeis

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Despite a 30-point performance from senior Isaac Percy, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's basketball team suffered an 86-77 defeat to Brandeis on Saturday. The Corsairs slip to 0-2 in the early stages of the season, while the Judges are victorious in their first game on their schedule.

The contest was even from the jump, with the score tied at 25-25 with 10 minutes to go in the opening half. Brandeis then jumped ahead with a 10-2 run, giving them a lead that they were able to carry all the way to halftime. The Judges went into the intermission with a 49-41 advantage.

Early in the second half, the Judges added onto their lead, extending it to double-digits. The Corsairs struggled to find offense in the second half outside of Percy, who recorded 18 in the second half after 12 in the first. Brandeis had a more balanced offensive approach, with their bench out-scoring the Corsairs' 32-8 over the game. UMass Dartmouth made a push with about six minutes remaining, when a three-ball from senior Jackson Zancan cut the deficit down to just five with 5:39 on the clock. However, that was the closest the Corsairs would get, a the Judges pulled away to an 86-77 victory over UMD.

The Corsairs' saw Percy shine with a game-leading 30 points on 10-15 from the field and 2-4 from three. Percy also went 8-10 from the free throw line and recorded 13 rebounds for the rare 30-point double-double. Also scoring in double-figures were senior Michael Eurquhart Jr. with 14, freshman Josh Lopes with 10 and sophomore Nic Boyd with 10. UMass Dartmouth dominated the offensive glass, scoring 19 second-chance points to Brandeis's five.

The Judges also saw four players reach double-digit points. Senior Ryan Power led the way with 17 points, followed by sophomore Ethan Edwards' 16 points.
