BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team hit the water on Friday evening, traveling to Bridgewater State University for a dual meet against the Bears. The home team posted a 144-34 win over the visiting Corsairs at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Swimming Pool.
The meet opened with the 200-yard medley relay as the Corsairs foursome of junior
Anya Wallace, sophomores
Kylie Winer and Ella Gerardi, along with senior
Savannah Platt posted a time of 2:16.22 - good for third overall. Next up was the 1,000-yard freestyle, which saw Winer take second overall with a time of 12:37.53, while Gerardi was fourth in 13:00.24.
In the 200-yard free, Platt posted fifth with a time of 2:56.69, while the 50-yard free saw Wallace finish third in 28.99. In the 100-yard individual medley, Gerardi powered to a second-place finish with a mark of 1:15.67, as Platt went on to take fourth overall in the 50-yard butterfly in 38.52.
The 100-yard free saw Winer earn third overall with a time of 1:03.38, while Wallace was third in the 50-yard backstroke with a mark of 35.62. In the 500-yard free, Gerardi recorded a time of 6:24.75 - good for third, while Winer was third in the 50-yard breast, touching the wall in a time of 37.96. The Corsairs finished atop the standings in the 200-yard free relay, as Gerardi, Platt, Wallace and Winer combined for a time of 2:02.17.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on December 2 when it heads back to Bridgewater to compete at the Bridgewater State Invitational. Action kicks off at 11am.
