Corsairs Fall to #11 Ranked Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – UMass Dartmouth ice hockey fell to the #11 team in NCAA Division III hockey, Plymouth State this evening. The Panthers beat out the Corsairs 6-0 at the Hanaway Rink in Plymouth, N.H.
 

UMass Dartmouth drops to 8-12-2 on the year and 6-8-1 in MASCAC play, while Plymouth State secures their 18th win of the season and remain undefeated against conference opponents at 15-0-0.
 

The contest began slow, with a scoreless first period. PSU had two power-play opportunities that they did not capitalize on. The score was 0-0 at the break.
 

Early in the second period, back-to-back goals from Panthers' freshman Will Redick began the scoring. The 11th ranked team in the country then added on two more shorthanded scores and then capitalized on a third period power play to go up 5-0. The Panthers' last goal was netted by junior Matt Tartaglio with less than two minutes remaining, to close the game at 6-0. 

PSU out-shot UMassD 46-to-31. Panthers' senior goalkeeper Brendahn Brawley stopped 31 Corsairs' shots on target in the win. UMD had five power play opportunities that they were unable to capitalize on. 

UMass Dartmouth ice hockey returns to action on Thursday, February 9, when they host Fitchburg State for a 7:30 bout at the Hetland Arena.
