Jake Maynard Named NEHWA Division III All-Star

Senior defender among 20 honorees from Division II and III

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -  The New England Hockey Writers Association has announced its year-end honors and UMass Dartmouth senior defender Jake Maynard has been recognized. The captain, who was an All-MASCAC First Team honoree, was named one of 20 Division II/III All-Stars. This year's honorees will be recognized on Wednesday, April 19th in a reception in Saugus, Mass.

Maynard, who hails from St. John, Indiana, started all 26 games for the Corsairs this season. He finished second on the squad in points with 21, producing a team-best 19 assists to go along with two goals. He recorded 79 shots as one of his tallies came on the power play, while the other was a game-winner.

Ranking fifth in the MASCAC in assists, Maynard also blocked 41 shots this season – which ranked second on the squad. A 2023 Joe Concannon Award Semifinalist, he finished third among all conference defensemen in points and was the overall leader in assists at his position.  currently second among all conference defensemen in points and the overall leader in assists at his position.

During the 2021-22 campaign, Maynard - who was an All-MASCAC Second Team honoree - was fourth on the team in scoring with two goals and 15 assists – which ranked second overall – for 17 points. Both of his tallies came on the power play, while he recorded 17 blocked shots.

In his rookie season in 2019-20, Maynard played in 27 of 28 games for UMD, notching three goals with an assist for four points.

UMass Dartmouth finished the 2022-23 season with an 8-16-2 overall record. The Corsairs went 6-11-1 in conference play, earning a spot in the postseason. UMD was the fifth-seed, falling to fourth-seeded Westfield State to conclude their campaign.
