DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The UMass Dartmouth women's tennis team returned to the win column on Tuesday evening, recording a 9-0 victory over Thomas College at the UMassD Tennis Courts. The Corsairs move to 5-2 on the season, while the Terriers are now 7-5 overall.
Doubles action got things started as the third flight team of senior
Caroline Lemieux and sophomore
Zuri Walters notched an 8-0 win against Renee Rossi and Tracy Lopez. The Corsairs made it a 2-0 advantage as the first doubles team of senior captains
IsaBella Winter and
Ailey Riddick had an 8-4 win over Lauren Smith and Riley Pierce.
UMassD took the 3-0 lead from two as rookie
Maddie Gonzalez and sophomore
Bailey Clarke combined for an 8-5 win against Keira Gilman and Libby Forgues.
In singles play, Lemieux got things going at six with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Lopez. Clarke earned match point from five, posting a straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 win against Rossi. Winter was next to finish, notching a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Smith from the first flight, while from two, Gonzalez was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Pierce. Riddick made it an 8-0 margin at four, posting a 6-1, 6-4 win versus Forgues, while Walters wrapped it up from three, defeating Gilman, 6-4, 6-0.
The Corsairs return to action on Saturday, heading to UMass Boston for LEC action beginning at 12pm.
