DARTMOUTH, Mass. – After a defensive showcase early on, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Salve Regina after two second-half goals from the Seahawks. The Corsairs drop to 0-3 while the Seahawks improve to 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, UMass Dartmouth was able to find a few good looks at the goal in the back half of play. The Corsairs best look came from junior
Braeden LeClair, who repossessed the ball around mid-field and took off with it, finding his way near the top of the box where he ripped a shot on net. LeClair's shot soared just too far to the right. Just five minutes after LeClair's attempt, during the 60
th minute of play, Salve Regina junior Ethan David put in the game's first score after a connection from senior Nathan Costantino.
With the Corsairs fighting to even the contest as the time ticked away, the Seahawks were able to extend their lead to 2-0 in the 88
th minute. SRU's second goal came by way of a corner kick in to senior Jordan Borges, who headed it back to sophomore Aaron Muncaster, who found the back of the net. The final minutes ticked away as Salve Regina took a 2-0 victory over UMass Dartmouth.
UMass Dartmouth's senior goalkeeper
Jack Waterhouse was put to the test in the contest. He faced 28 total shots including seven that were on target. Waterhouse made five saves on the day, including two high-difficulty stops heading to the upper part of the net.
