NEWPORT, R.I. – Powered by a three-goal effort in the third quarter, Salve Regina notched a non-conference victory over UMass Dartmouth on Thursday night. The Seahawks, who won by a 6-0 margin, improved to 2-0 on the young season, while the Corsairs fell to 1-2 overall.
The homestanding Seahawks got the scoring started in the opening period as Hana Bevilacqua buried a feed from Georgia Costello at 13:56. The Corsairs had a strong opportunity just a few minutes before the goal as
Harley Hodge put the ball on net, but Bryn Protheroe made the save in goal.
Salve tacked two on the board in the second quarter as Bella Gannon scored at 25:57, while Bevilacqua added her second of the contest less than three minutes later.
Out of the halftime break, the home team added another as Julia Decker connected off a feed from Shannon Kennedy – who assisted on the game's second goal earlier. Costello added a tally of her own soon after – again off a pass from Kennedy – while Jordyn Pineau knocked in her first of the contest to wrap up the scoring in the third.
Neither team found the back of the cage in the fourth quarter as the Seahawks held the Corsairs scoreless for the duration.
In goal for the Corsairs, junior

Kelsie Couto came on for the final quarter of play, recording five stops.
