DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team had an outstanding day of action on Friday in a home Little East Conference tri-meet, hosting Plymouth State and Western Connecticut.
Sophomore Ella Gerardi was the first Corsair to compete, kicking things off in the 200-yard individual medley. Gerardi timed 2:40.17, good for second place.
Next up was a phenomenal 200-yard freestyle by sophomore
Kylie Winer. Winer claimed first place in the event, timing 2:16.56. Senior
Savannah Platt followed her up with a second place performance in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 35.36.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Gerardi powered to second overall, just nine-tenths of a second from the leader, with a time of 1:12.04. Platt finished third overall with a time of 33.34 in the 50-yard freestyle, before placing third in the 100-meter freestyle moments later with a time of 1:12.93.
Next up was the 100-yard breaststroke, where Winer paced a time of 1:21.45 for a second overall finish. UMass Dartmouth closed out the meet in the 50-yard butterfly that saw Gerardi finish third overall with a 31.31 time, and finally the 100-yard individual medley, that saw Winer take the lone first-place finish by a Corsair. Winer finished in 1:12.49 for first overall.
The UMass Dartmouth Women's Swimming team is back at it on Saturday, January 20, when they travel to Westfield State for a meeting with the Owls. Meet time is scheduled for 1pm.
