MEDFORD & NORTON, Mass. – It was a busy day in several locations as the UMass Dartmouth men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Tufts Jumbo Invitational and the Lyon Invitational on Saturday. Both teams saw a number of outstanding performances on the day at both locations.
In the meet at Tufts, the 60-meter dash saw sophomore
Petrashea Johnson place ninth overall in 8.38, while rookie
Allie Kimball was 10th in 8.53. The 200-meters saw Kimball go on to take seventh overall in a time of 29.98. In the 400-meter dash, sophomore
Grace Russell was fifth overall in 1:05.03.
The field events saw sophomore
Isabella Taccogna earn third overall with a high jump mark of 1.51 meters (4' 11.5"). In the shot put, senior
Kate Hockenbury was third overall with a throw of 10.61 meters (34' 9.75"), while junior
Neisha Boiteux was fifth with a mark of 10.44 meters (34' 3"). Senior
Amanda Little took 10th with a throw of 9.87 meters (32' 4.75").
The weight throw saw a solid number of finishes, paced by Little who took fifth overall in 12.71 meters (41' 8.5"). Boiteux was sixth overall with a personal best throw of 12.68 meters (41' 7.25"), while rookie
Emily Hesketh was seventh with a personal best mark of 12.61 meters (41' 4.5").
At the Lyon Invitational, sophomore Tori Schweitzer was runner-up in the 800-meters with a time of 2:37.28. Rookie
Sophie Owen also finished solid, taking eighth with a time of 2:50.96. The 5000-meters saw junior
Bee Greenberg post fifth overall with a personal record time of 19:31.56, while rookie
Sarah Lynch posted eighth in the event with a time of 23:03.34.
The Corsairs ran a 4x400-meter relay at the Lyon Invite as junior
Julia Latura, Schweitzer, grad student
Emma Steedman and Owen combined to finish fifth with a time of 4:48.57.
The Corsairs squads return to action on January 20, heading back to Medford, Mass., to compete at the Tufts Branwen Smith-King Invitational.
