MEDFORD, Mass. – Behind a number of strong efforts, the UMass Dartmouth women's track and field team was in action at the Tufts Branwen Smith-King Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Corsairs finished 12th overall in the field.
Field events saw rookie
Emily Hesketh take 10th overall in the weight throw, notching a distance of 11.90 meters (39-00.50), while senior
Amanda Little was 11th with a throw of 11.68 meters (38-04.00).
The shot put saw Hesketh finish sixth overall with a mark of 10.26 meters (33-08.00) with Little earning 10th overall with a mark of 9.76 meters (32-00.25). Rounding out the field events was sophomore
Isabella Taccogna, who placed eighth overall in the high jump with a height of 1.46 meters (4-09.50).
The track events saw sophomore
Petrashea Johnson post 11th overall in a time of 8.45, while in the 1-mile, junior
Bee Greenberg was 13th with a time of 5:38.39. In the 400-meter dash, sophomore
Grace Russell was ninth overall with a time of 1:05.71, as junior
Julia Latura powered to 10th overall in the 1000-meters in 3:22.01.
Rookie
Allie Kimball, Greenberg, first year
Kyla Palmer and Russell posted eighth overall in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:33.56, while in the 4x800 meter relay, the foursome of junior
Anya Aadland, sophomore
Victoria Schweitzer, Latura and grad student
Emma Steedman were third in a time of 10:53.42.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action next Saturday, heading to Norton, Mass., to compete at the Wheaton College Invitational.
