DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The UMass Dartmouth swimming team hosted its final home meet of the season on Saturday, welcoming the University of New England to the Tripp Athletic Center. The meet, which saw the visiting Nor'Easters post a 194-29 win, marked Senior Day for the Corsairs as they honored
Savannah Platt for her outstanding contributions to the team.
The Corsairs opened the meet swimming exhibition in the 200-yard medley relay. Joined by UNE swimmer April Falstad, the foursome posted a time of 2:10.81.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, sophomore Ella Gerardi swam to second overall, posting a time of 12:46.13. In the 200-yard freestyle, the Corsairs saw sophomore
Kylie Winer take the victory, touching the wall in 2:11.94.Â
The 100-yard backstroke saw Platt post third overall, recording a time of 1:22.94, while in the 100-yard butterfly, Gerardi powered to second overall in a time of 1:10.62. The 500-yard freestyle saw Winer finish second overall with a time of 5:57.00, while Gerardi took fourth in a time of 6:20.98.
In the 50-yard butterfly, Platt posted fifth overall with a time of 36.12, while in the 100-yard individual medley, Winer was fourth in 1:12.53, while Platt took fifth in 1:22.72.
UMass Dartmouth closed out the meet in the 200-free relay, once again combining with UNE's Falstad to post a time of 2:01.60.
The Corsairs are back in the pool next Saturday, traveling to Rhode Island College for a 2pm meet.
