NORTON, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team returned to action on Saturday at the Wheaton College Invitational. The Corsairs finished fifth on the afternoon with 28 points, paced by a victory in the 3,000-meter run by junior
Bee Greenberg.
In the 60-meter dash, sophomore
Petrashea Johnson posted sixth overall with a time of 8.30, while in the 400-meter dash, classmate
Grace Russell posted seventh with a mark of 1:06.28. The Corsairs also saw rookie
Allie Kimball record 11th in the event with a time of 1:07.
The 800-meter run saw sophomore
Tori Schweitzer take eighth overall in 2:35.72, while junior
Julia Latura was close behind in ninth with a time of 2:36.01. Greenberg won the 3000-meter run in a time of 11:05.56 – nearly seven seconds faster than second place – while grad student
Emma Steedman and rookie
Sarah Lynch were fourth (11:16.92) and seventh (12:22.81), respectively.
In the 60-meter hurdles, rookie
Briana Caman was ninth with a time of 10.72, while the 4x200 relay team placed third in 1:57.31. The Corsairs 4x400 relay team placed fourth in 4:45.40.
The field events saw sophomore
Isabella Taccogna earn sixth overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.41 meters, while Johnson placed ninth in the long jump with a mark of 4.23 meters. In the shot put, senior
Kate Hockenbury placed sixth with a throw of 10.53 meters, while classmate
Amanda Little was seventh with a mark of 10.39 meters. Rookie
Emily Hesketh placed ninth with a distance of 10.24 meters, while junior
Neisha Boiteux was 10th with a throw of 10.05 meters.
In the weight throw, Hesketh earned sixth overall with a mark of 13.57 meters, while Boiteux was eighth with a distance of 12.59 meters.
The Corsairs return to action next Friday, traveling to New London, Conn., to compete at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational.
