PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The UMass Dartmouth women's tennis team fell to Rhode Island College on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 8-1 in Little East Conference action. The Corsairs dropped to 2-2 in league play with the loss while the Anchorman secured their sixth conference win of the season.
In doubles play, Rhode Island took a quick 2-0 lead after picking up wins in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Sophomore

Emma Collings teamed up in No. 1 doubles battling against Lauren Macera and Erica Botelho. The Corsairs tandem pulled away with an 8-7 victory after winning by a 7-3 margin in the tiebreaker to make it 2-1 entering singles action.
Amara Devine and Haylie Peacock sealed wins in No. 6 and No. 4 singles spots, respectively, for the Anchorman to take a 4-1 edge. In No. 5 singles, sophomore
Saige Croce fought Amiah Sommer but was bested by a final score of 6-2, 6-1.
Junior
Zuri Walters and Gonzalez each battled in the final set of their singles matches, however, Rhode Island cemented the win by earning the final three points of the contest to preserve their 12-match unbeaten streak.
UMass Dartmouth is back in action on Friday, Oct. 4 playing at Bridgewater State University, originally scheduled for Sept. 21. The LEC tilt is set for a 3:30 pm start time from Bridgewater, Mass.
