DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's tennis squad edged the Rams of Suffolk University, 4-3, on Thursday afternoon to secure their seventh win of the season. The Corsairs improved to 7-7 overall with the non-conference victory over the Rams who dropped to 1-10 on the year.

Emma Collings opened doubles action for the Corsairs with a win at the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-2. In No. 3 doubles, sophomore

Lauren Burgess gave UMass Dartmouth the early one-point advantage after defeating Elene Nishnianidze and Jaylin Hills 6-3 to enter singles play up 1-0.
The Rams fought back in singles action securing wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to put the visitors ahead 2-1 in the match. Collings answered for the Corsairs tying the contest up at 2-2 with her 6-1, 6-4 win in No. 2 singles.
Junior
Zuri Walters made her second appearance at No. 1 singles for UMass Dartmouth battling against Megha Tenneti. Walters took set one 6-2 before earning her first career win at No. 1 singles with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Suffolk evened the contest up at 3-3 after Rachel Hill picked up a win at the No. 3 singles to set-up No. 5 singles as the deciding match. Falling behind 6-4 in the first set, graduate student
Kayli Langan had to fight her way back in the match. She secured a 6-3 win in the second set to force the duel into a third set. Langan defeated Nishnianidze 6-3 in the third set to clinch the victory for UMass Dartmouth by a final score of 4-3.
The Corsairs travel to the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 12 for their final regular season match. The Little East Conference tilt is slated for a 1:00 pm start time.
