Women's Swimming Opens Season at Eastern Connecticut State

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The UMass Dartmouth women's swimming & diving team opened their 2024-25 season on Saturday at the Eastern Connecticut State University meet along with Regis College (Mass.). The Corsairs saw several strong individual performances on the day which also marked the first meet at the helm for head coach Michael Kroll.
 
Junior Isabella Gerardi posted a second-place finish for UMass Dartmouth in the 1,000-yard freestyle event with a time of 13:10.41. Gerardi also competed in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard medley, finishing fifth overall in both events.  
 
Junior Kylie Winer saw her best performance of the meet in the 200-yard medley posting 2:38.46 to secure a second-place finish. She also earned third for UMass Dartmouth in the 100-yard breaststroke clocking in at 1:21.37 along with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:18.35.
 
In the 50-yard backstroke, graduate student Savannah Platt collected fifth place for the Corsairs with a time of 42.31. Platt also competed in the 100-yard freestyle securing sixth place after posting a time of 1:16.96.
 
First year Emiyah Setalsingh made her collegiate debut for UMass Dartmouth finishing fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:16.04. Setalsingh also captured fifth place in the 50-yard butterfly event clocking in at 33.74.
 
In the relay events, the Corsairs collected a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:16.85.
 
UMass Dartmouth returns to the pool on Friday, Nov. 8 for their next contest hosted by Regis College along with Saint Joseph's College for Maine. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm from Weston, Mass.
