CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team was in action on Saturday, competing at the highly competitive Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT. The Corsairs were paced by several solid performances on the day.
Rookie
Allie Kimballl posted 18th in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 29.03, while sophomore
Grace Russell powered to a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.60. Kimball went on to place 15th in the event with a mark of 1:08.76.
The 800-meter event saw rookie
Sophie Owen earn 11th overall in a time of 2:53.97, while in the 1,000-meter race, junior
Julia Latura posted ninth in a time of 3:26.67. The mile saw grad student
Emma Steedman place 11th as well, crossing in a time of 5:44.05, as junior
Bee Greenberg powered to seventh overall in the 3,000-meters with a time of 11:13.40.
The final track event saw Latura, Steedman, Greenberg and sophomore
Tori Schweitzer combine for a time of 4:50.24 to earn second overall in the 4x400-relay.
In the field events, sophomore
Isabella Taccogna was 10th with a jump of 1.49 meters (4'10.5"), while going on to place 23rd in the long jump with a jump of 4.24 meters (13'11"). The shot put saw senior
Kate Hockenbury post 10th overall with a throw of 10.73 meters (35'2.5"), while the weight throw was paced by rookie
Emily Hesketh, who had a mark of 11.87 meters (38'11.5") – good for 22nd.
The Corsairs return to action next Saturday, traveling to the University of Southern Maine to compete at the 2024 Little East Championships.
