Corsairs Men's Basketball Postseason Halted at WestConn

DANBURY, Conn. – In Little East Conference Semifinal action, the UMass Dartmouth men's basketball team was outpaced, 88-63, by Western Connecticut on Thursday. The Corsairs' 2023-24 season concludes with a 15-12 overall record. Meanwhile the Wolves improve to 22-4 overall and will travel to Keene State for the Little East Conference Championship Game on Saturday. 

WestConn saw four different players score in double-figures, led by senior guard Alfonso Stokes, who tallied 15 points on 7 for 10 (70.0%) shooting. Huskies junior Cameron Gallon added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals. Jahlyl Morgan posted 11 points on a perfect 4 for 4 from the field.  
 
UMass Dartmouth was paced by sophomore John Marcille, who posted 14 points and five rebounds and sunk four threes. Senior Isaac Percy was the only other Corsair to reach double figures with 11. 
 
UMass Dartmouth led 10-7 at the 13:43 mark of the first half, but it was all WestConn from there. The Wolves rattled off a 38-10 run to go up, 45-20 with 3:03 to go in the half. The Wolves' offense showed no signs of slowing down, and went into halftime with a 53-28 advantage.  
 
After UMass Dartmouth struck first in the second half on a Percy three-pointer, Western Connecticut picked up where they left off in the first half, extending their lead to 63-33 with 15:04 left to play. The Corsairs were unable to battle their way back into the contest, ultimately falling to the Wolves, 88-63. 

The UMass Dartmouth men's basketball team's season wraps up in Danbury, while WestConn will look forward to a Championship Game meeting with the Owls of Keene State.
