Corsairs Fall to Top-Ranked Endicott College

BEVERLY, Mass. - Powered by a seven-run sixth inning for the Gulls, UMass Dartmouth baseball fell short, 14-5, to top-ranked Endicott College on Wednesday afternoon. The Corsairs move to 18-14-1 overall, while the Gulls improve to 30-2 overall and remain on top of the ABCA and D3Baseball.com weekly polls.

It was the Corsairs who took an early lead, getting out to a 5-3 advantage through five and a half innings. Endicott responded by pouring in seven runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Gulls' inning featured several hits and included a two-run homer off the bat of senior center fielder Dylan Pacheco. Endicott took their first lead of the game, and made it a comfortable lead as they exited the inning up 10-5.

Endicott built further on their lead in the eighth, thanks to another two-run homerun, this time coming from senior right fielder Joey Frammartino. The Gulls took a 14-5 advantage, which was the eventual final score.

The Corsairs saw a committee of pitchers enter the game, with grad student Anthony Keefe having the longest stay on the mound. He allowed three runs on four hits with three strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work. From the plate, the Corsairs were led by senior third baseman Andrew Possi, who went 3-for-4 with a double and scored a run. Senior left fielder Matt Klett also had a great showing from the batter's box, going 2-for-2 with a double and two runs. Senior catcher T.J. Keefe went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI's.

The Gulls saw 11 different batters record hits, including multiple-hit outings from senior outfielder Nicholas Notarangelo and junior infielder Robbie Wladkowski. They also saw three RBI's from two batters in Frammartino and grad student DH Brendan O'Neil. Earning the win on the mound was sophomore righty Brady Stuart, who allowed one run on two hits with three six strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work.
