BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. - Powered by a two-goal second half, the UMass Dartmouth women's soccer team posted a 3-1 win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Corsairs improve to 2-3-1 overall, while the Buccaneers are now 0-2-1 on the season.
Senior Kailyn Nguyen got things going in the 15th minute, firing a shot in past goalie Reagan Kerecz to give the visitors the 1-0 advantage. The Buccaneers responded early in the second half as Matilda Laux banked in a shot off a feed from Ayla Santoro in the 52nd minute to tie it up at 1-all.
Five minutes later saw the Corsairs grab the go-ahead tally as rookie midfielder
Lilly Jaeger scored her second of the season in the 58th minute of play. UMass Dartmouth netted the insurance goal in the 76th minute as rookie defender
Molly Sheehan scored on a bang-bang play that saw both junior midfielder
Matalin Silvia and Nguyen credited with the assists.
The Corsairs owned a 24-5 advantage in shots for the contest, including a 14-5 margin on goal. UMass Dartmouth also had a 7-0 edge in corner kicks on the afternoon.

Emma Juelis came on in relief in the second half, earning the victory with two saves made.
UMass Dartmouth returns to the pitch on Wednesday, traveling to Worcester Polytechnic Institute for a 7pm tilt against the Engineers.Â
