PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The UMass Dartmouth women's tennis team posted a 5-4 victory over Plymouth State University in Little East Conference (LEC) action on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Corsairs to 5-0 on the season with a 2-0 LEC mark, while the Panthers are now 0-3 with an 0-2 conference record.
In doubles action, the Corsairs picked up the solid 8-1 win as sophomore
Maddie Gonzalez and graduate student
Emma Collings defeated Chloe Ahern and Tessa LaBarre. The Panthers bounced back, grabbing an 8-3 win at second doubles as Alyssa Craigie and Elena Cardoso defeated junior
Zuri Walters and sophomore
Sofia Beltran.
The Panthers took a 2-1 lead into singles action as Maddie Lorenz and Sofia Orama bested Corsairs sophomore
Saige Croce and grad student
Kayli Langan, 8-6 at three.
Singles action saw Gonzalez post the victory from one, taking a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ahern, while Walters was victorious by a 6-4, 7-5 margin against LaBarre from two. Three saw Collings record a 6-2, 7-5 win against Craigie, while Beltran picked up a hard-fought 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 win against Cardoso from four.
At five, Lorenz earned the point for the Panthers with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Croce, while Orama bested Langan at six, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Monday, traveling to West Hartford, Connecticut for a 3pm match at the University of Saint Joseph.
