NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Behind a three-goal effort in the third period, the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts defeated UMass Dartmouth, 5-3 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Thursday night. The Trailblazers move to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in conference action, while the Corsairs saw their three-game win streak snapped and are now 7-6 and 4-3 in the MASCAC.
The Corsairs opened the game's scoring at 3:20 of the opening period as a loose puck off the stick on junior right wing and assistant captain

Hunter Scanlon in the near circle. Skating low, Scanlon fired a shot in that edged past the Trailblazers goalie for the 1-0 advantage. Sophomore center
Connor Little earned the secondary assist on the play.
MCLA answered less than five minutes later as Sean Schifferl drove home a pass from Cade Herrera for the equalizer at 8:07. Easton Moore was also credited with an assist on the play.
In the second period, the home team netted the go-ahead tally at 4:26 as Colin Ogborn connected off a feed from Addam Brunner to make it a 2-1 contest. The secondary assist went to Cody White.
The third period of play saw the Corsairs battle back as junior left wing
Tyler Stewart buried home the loose puck to tie the game at 1:24. Sophomore right wing

Nolan Wutzke earned the assists on the tally.
MCLA broke up the game soon after as Charlie Addesa scored on the power play at 6:30 to make it a 3-2 contest, followed by a shorthanded goal from Moore at 12:39, opening a 4-2 margin. The home team added its fifth goal off a score from Quinn Murphy at 15:11.
The Corsairs added another tally less than 20 seconds later as rookie defender
Tommy Madden converted a pass off the stick of freshman center
Spencer Sykes to close the gap to 5-2 at 15:37, but that was as close as the visitors got in the game.
MCLA saw netminder Mathew Gover record 40 saves in the win, while Corsairs junior
Marshall McKallip recorded 34 stops for the visitors.
UMass Dartmouth returns to the ice on Saturday, hosting MASCAC-rival Rivier University at 5:30pm at Hetland Arena.
