DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team came up short against Smith College in non-conference action by a final score of 3-1 from Cressy Field. The Corsairs moved to 1-9 overall on the season while the Bears improved to a 6-4 mark on the year.

Amelia Keeler with just 1:09 into the contest. The Bears answered approaching the tenth minute of the period as Halie Yung knotted the game up at 1-apiece with her score at the 9:52 mark.
Sophomore goalie
Shane Cueman posted her first save of the night in the opening minutes of the second period to deny a shot by Anouk Bosket. Both teams exchanged shots midway through the period before Smith's offense started to gain momentum. Cueman produced two quick stops following a late Smith penalty corner for the Corsairs, but Bosket gave the Bears a 2-1 edge at halftime with her score at 28:34.
In the third period, Cueman saved five of the six shots taken by Smith to keep the Bears off the scoreboard entering the final period of the game. Lucia Kim extended Smith's lead to 3-1 with an early goal in the fourth period off the assist from Yung. After first year

Brooke Lydon fired off two quick shots that Bears goalie Iseul Park was able to stop to cement Smith's 3-1 victory.
Smith outshot UMass Dartmouth 28-5 and held a 20-5 shots on-goal margin in the contest. The Bears earned 13 penalty corners compared to the Corsairs with one corner. Smith also committed 18 fouls in the game while UMass Dartmouth was called for 15 fouls.
Johnson posted her third goal of the season as well as her second straight score for the Corsairs. Lydon led the Corsairs offense with four shot attempts that were all on frame.
Cueman recorded 17 total saves in the cage for UMass Dartmouth and allowed three goals in the game. Park finished the contest with three stops and one goal allowed for Smith.
