BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team were tripped up at UMass Boston in Little East Conference action on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 7-0. The Corsairs dropped to a 4-2 league record with the road loss against the Beacons who improved to a 5-1 Little East mark.
In doubles action, first years
Mya Dean and
Ava Aguiar battled at No. 2 doubles for the Corsairs but came up short by a score of 6-4. The Beacons secured the opening match point with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
At No. 2 singles, Sandra Watson put UMass Boston up 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Shortly after, the Beacons extended their advantage to 4-0 with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. First year
Gianna Doiron battled against Shreya Saravana Rakshana at No. 5 singles after falling 7-5 in the first set. Rakshana went on to defeat Doiron 6-2 in the second set enroute to their fifth conference win of the season by a final score of 7-0.
