WESTON, Mass. – A late game-winning penalty stroke by junior captain
Sophia Bouffard lifted the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team over Regis College (Mass.), 2-1, on Tuesday evening during non-conference action. The Corsairs earned their second win of the season to improve to 2-13 overall record while the Pride fell to a 4-12 mark.

Shane Cueman was tested early in the contest to deny a shot by Ava Costello in the opening minute of play. Shortly after the Pride earned their first penalty corner of the evening, Teal Galligan put the home team up 1-0 with her goal at the 3:31 mark. Junior forward
Sam King responded for the Corsairs late in the period by firing back-to-back strikes on frame, both of which Regis goalie Allayna Martone stopped to keep the Pride ahead 1-0.

Brooke Lydon dished a dangerous pass to first year forward
Olivia Palm who nestled the ball into the back of the cage to tie the game up at 1-apiece. King and sophomore forward
Ava Lozeau each registered a shot in the closing minutes of the half, but the contest remained deadlocked at 1-1 entering halftime.
UMass Dartmouth controlled the third period of the game outshooting their opponents by a 5-0 margin featuring by three strikes by King. In the final period, the Corsairs continued to put pressure on the Prides defense by posting four shots on target, all which Martone saved, midway through the period. Less than five minutes remaining in the game, UMass Dartmouth earned a penalty stroke opportunity that Bouffard stepped up to take for the Corsairs. Bouffard rifled the ball over Martone's stick to seal UMass Dartmouth's 2-1 road win over Regis.
The Corsairs outshot the Pride 17-9 and held a 10-8 edge in shots on-goal in the contest. The Corsairs also won the penalty corner battle with eight compared to the Pride with five corners.
Palm notched her third goal of the season for two points while Lydon produced her first assist of the year in the road win over Regis. Bouffard also tallied her third score for two points and earned her second game-winner of the season.
Cueman picked up her second win in the cage for UMass Dartmouth after recording seven total saves and allowing just one goal. Her counterpart finished the game with eight stops and allowed two goals in the cage for Regis.
