PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced its weekly honorees in women's volleyball and UMass Dartmouth senior
Emily Pogorelec has been named the Defensive Player of the Week. It marks the sixth straight weekly honor for the defensive specialist, who helped the Corsairs go 2-0 last week.
Pogorelec, a native of Wayne, N.J., averaged 5.38 digs per set last week, totaling 43 overall. She added 10 assists with a service ace in two conference matches. In a 3-2 win over UMass Boston on Wednesday, Pogorelec had a match-high 27 digs, adding five assists and an ace. She then notched a match-high 16 digs, adding five assists in a 3-0 victory against Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday.
This marks the sixth straight weekly honor for Pogorelec, who has posted 449 total digs on the season – ranking first in the Little East. A captain, she is also second overall in digs per set with a 4.88 average. On the season, she has recorded at least 10 digs in 24 of 26 matches played, including seven with 20 or more.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Saturday, November 1 when it travels to Plymouth State. It will mark the final regular season match for the Corsairs, beginning at 3:30pm.
