PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) released its weekly honorees in women's volleyball featuring UMass Dartmouth student-athletes
Emily Pogorelec and
Allison Pate, as announced by the conference on Monday. Pogorelec captures her third Defensive Player of the Week honor while Pate earns Offensive Player of the Week marking her first weekly award this season.
Pogorelec helped pace the Corsairs to a 3-1 conference win at Keene State College on October 3rd to improve to a 2-0 mark in Little East action. The senior captain posted a match-best 25 digs, adding five assists and a service ace. Pogorelec now leads the league in overall digs with 294, averaging 4.74 digs per set, thanks to her efforts against the Owls.
Pate earned her first LEC weekly honor after her impressive performance versus Keene State. The junior outside hitter produced a season-high 20 kills on 39 attempts for a 43.6 hitting percentage. She also recorded 16 digs, two blocks, and a service ace in the 3-1 road conference win. Pate ranks second overall in the league with 211 total kills, averaging 3.40 kills per set which is good for third-best in the Little East. The Sebring native also sits fifth overall in the conference in digs with 232 so far this season.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Rhode Island College for their next conference match on Wednesday, October 8th. The contest is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time from The Murray Center.
