BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team fell on the road at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 3-0, during a non-conference tilt on Tuesday night. The Corsairs dropped to a 6-5-1 overall record on the season while the Buccaneers improved to a 6-4-2 mark on the year.
First year
Jack Martin registered the opening shot of the game for UMass Dartmouth about ten minutes into action. The Buccaneers then tacked on three unanswered strikes in addition to the first corner kick of the night approaching the midway point of the first half. At the 31:33 mark, first year
Leonardo Alfama drilled a shot on target to force the first save of the contest by Buccaneers goalkeeper Preston Joia. Shortly after, sophomore
Riley Rebello fired another shot on frame that Joia was able to stop for the home team. Junior goalkeeper
Cole Berman, earning his second start in net, produced a late save for the Corsairs to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
Both teams started the second half strong as sophomores
Brennan Hill and
Derrick Camara recorded quick back-to-back shots for UMass Dartmouth in the 51
st minute. A few minutes later, Mass. Maritime snapped the scoreless deadlock thanks to a goal by Brody Calvert to make it a 1-0 game. During the next 12 minutes of play, the Corsairs outshot the Buccaneers, 3-1, highlighted by a strike on target by Rebello. Mass. Maritime sealed their victory in the final minutes of the contest with two late goals enroute to a 3-0 win over UMass Dartmouth in non-league action.
The Buccaneers held a 17-10 advantage in total shots along with an 8-4 shots on-goal differential. Mass. Maritime earned five corner kicks in the game compared to the Corsairs with two while both teams committed eight fouls apiece.
Rebello finished the game with a team-high two strikes on target while Martin also produced a pair of shots in the road loss. Junior

Lennon Rodrigues, Hill, Camara, and Alfama each recorded one shot apiece in the contest for UMass Dartmouth.
Berman shouldered the loss in net for the Corsairs after posting a career-high five saves and allowing three goals. His counterpart finished the game with four stops to secure the home win for Mass. Maritime in net.
UMass Dartmouth returns to Little East Conference (LEC) action on Saturday, October 11 playing at Eastern Connecticut State University for a 3:00 p.m. league fixture.
