DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's swimming team hosted Rhode Island College for their 2025-26 season home opener on Saturday from the Tripp Natatorium for the Louise Goodrum Invitational. The Corsairs captured 13 total first-place finishes against the Anchorwomen on the day.
Senior
Isabella Gerardi had an impressive day for the Corsairs with three individual first-place finishes. She started the meet by posting a 1:13.65 time in the 100-yard butterfly for first overall before collecting her second first-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 22:12.17. Gerardi then clocked in at 5:39.19 in the 400-yard individual medley to seal her third first overall finish of the meet.
Senior
Kylie Winer had a strong performance for the UMass Dartmouth after collecting three first-place finishes as well. Winer took first overall in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:58.40. She then competed in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.22) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:46.70) to capture her next pair of first-place finishes for the Corsairs.
Sophomore
Emiyah Setalsingh grabbed two first-place finishes for the Corsairs on the day. She opened the meet by earning first overall in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:15.01 before taking first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:55.72).
First year
Abby Fernandes kicked off the season home opener by producing a time of 28.34 in the 50-yard freestyle to earn first overall. Fernandes continued her success in the 50-yard butterfly to take first place out of five competitors with a time of 32.74. The rookie finished the day strong by securing her third first-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley after clocking in at 1:11.61.
In her collegiate debut for the Corsairs, first year
Mandy Reid collected second overall in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:29.56. First year
Saneka Smith also made her collegiate debut for UMass Dartmouth competing in the 50-yard freestyle (44.90) and 50-yard backstroke (1:12.60).
In the relay events, the Corsairs took first in two of the three relays in the meet. UMass Dartmouth kicked off the meet by taking first overall in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:16.61 featuring Setalsingh, Fernandes, Gerardi, and Reid. The Corsairs then closed out the day strong by claiming first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay posting a 4:15.91 time with members Winer, Setalsingh, Gerardi, and Fernandes.

"Overall, we had another great start to the year," commented head coach
Michael Kroll following today's season home opening meet. "We continued to build on the high energy that we started the season with last week. The Louise Goodrum Invite was an excellent opportunity for us to get up and race a lot of different events in a short timeframe, and we were able to keep our speed throughout the meet, with 13 first-place finishes."
